Our Place is for the Birds

OK. Maybe I am going crazy, or maybe senile, or maybe just a little more sensitive to God's Creations. Several days ago I was shopping in Home Depot, and saw a sale on hummingbirds feeders. So I spent my five bucks and bought one. Went home and jumped on the interneet to do some research. The red dye is harmful and these birds hunt by sight and not by smell. I made my 4/1 concoction of water to sugar, and hung it outside the kitchen window. In less than 5 minutes we had hummingbirds. We watched them for a while and were fascinated. We have seen several aerial barrages of dive bombing like you can't imagine. These birds are very territorial. I thought I would post some pics and let you see the majesty of these tiny creatures. One bird came very close to me and began to hover about a foot from away right in front of the camera to see what I was doing. At first they were a little leery, but then didn't seem to mind if I was standing there taking their pictures. I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.

The "D" boys and I love the humming birds. We've got a bush they like...but I've debated getting a feeder. Just may have to take another trip to home depot. :)

I love watching hummingbirds too, but I've misplaced my feeder. Your pictures are great!

Randy, you have motivated me to get a hummingbird feeder. My grandmother was "addicted" to her feeder and would give her hummingbirds cute little names. Come to think of it, I think watching hummingbirds must be for old people...maybe I won't go out and buy a feeder afterall! LIZ
