MEMORY LANE

This is a challenge from one of my daughters - Renee. So here goes. This is probably going to be embarassing but I'll try (rarely do people comment on my blogg) Yes I am crying. Calling all Memories!! So here is a fun new blogging game: 1. Leave one memory that you and I had together, as a comment on my blog. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! Or just say something nice. 2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. Have a nice little trip down memory lane! (I know you just had a great memory of us....now leave a comment about it!!!)

Actually, we proabably don't have many memories together at all. But, I have to say that my favorite memory of you was at the Clement family reunion in 2005 when you played with Shelby and Jackson. They were 11 months old and you were letting them drink out of water bottles and just make a big ol' wet mess! I think they had such a good time and it was nice to see you interacting with them like you'd known them all thier lives. I could really see what a great father/grandfather you are! Your family is very lucky and is very blessed to have you in thier lives! :)

Hmmm...so many to choose from. The one that is coming to mind is when we were walking out of the hospital from visiting Gammy two years ago. We were passing by a would-be stranger and suddenly you starting hand jiving, elbow knocking, and hip checking with him. Little did we (Shaun, Mom and I) know that this was one of your old highschool buddies, Scooter Pie, and you two were doing your 25 year old "secret handshake". I was amazed at your memory, proud of your confidence, and amused by your spontaneity. You are so precious!

One of my all time faves is...When you decided to take Jason, Jerm, Aim and I fishing. We started the trip off with chocolate milk and doughnuts and a few hours later, up the winding mountain Aimee barfed up her breakfast all over your jacket. We all bailed from the car and than as you were attempting to clean the mess, I barfed and then you barfed and then Jason and Jerm started running back down the road. Thanks for being a great dad, for taking 4 rug rats fishing, for always being up for an adventure, for being a dreamer and for being a loving and devoted papa!

I remember being in your office after I woke up with a horribly stiff neck. Ryan made me go, and it went something like this:
You: Have you ever been to a chiropractor before?
Me: No (very nervous, stiff as a board)
You: Well, okay, you will hear some noises, but it's not bad. You need to relax.
Me: okay
You: So, blah blah blah question I don't remember because you were distracting me from being nervous and then you fixed my neck mid question while I was concentrating on what you were saying.

Good tactic! It totally worked.

And, everytime one of the kids calls you Uncle Dandy, I always have a quote from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that Gene Wilder said come into mind. "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker." I don't know why.

hmmm... I can remember my would be father in law pounding on Jeremy's old truck window while he and I were pretty much making out outside of your house. You gave us each a firm look and said, "I think you two better come inside." I'm sure I turned bright red!! I was horrified. Do you even remember this??

I also love the story about you and Ken Peterson ridding in the elevator at UCLA when Hailey was born. I don't remember the whole story only the punch line:

You and Anita were getting off an elevator that had several people on it including Ken and Becky. As the doors shut I believe you turned to Ken and said, "let me know how the AIDS test turns out." To which Ken instantly replied, "Ok sweetie I will."

I'm sure I butchered that but I love the story and the quick wit on both of your parts.

Well I have to say that the memory or image that is coming to my mind is of an example. I have such great hope that one day Steve will turn out be such a great member of the Church. I know that you have always shown him kindness and never pretended to be anything less than a human being trying to do the best you can here in this life.

I also love the fact that no matter what you are there to help me with Sadie.

Thank you!
Lots of Love Tammy

I remember riding in your suburban on the way to scout camp. Scott Phelps was riding in the front and had fallen asleep with a light snore. The rest of us were all in the back and you motioned on the count of three to scream as loud as possible. You then hit the brakes and we all screamed...
I think Scott wet his pants.

I remember an entire year of seminary that I was excited to be at church at 6:15 am...I was ready for more, everyday! I remember that you constantly made us laugh, but you could invite the spirit just as quick. Only now do I realize how difficult that would be, to have family & work commitments & still have lessons & enthusiasm at 6:15 everyday. Thank you so much!
