Having Joy in our Posterity

We can hardly wait. We are going to meet Amanda, David and the “B” Twins in LV. Can’t wait to see them and hold them and just hang out. We haven’t seen them since they visited in June. They have grown so much and are so much more active. We just can’t wait. Each time I here those sacred words “Joy in our Posterity”, I get a glimpse of what it means. I feel the blessings of Abraham are within my grasp. Definitely a glimpse of the eternities. Sometimes our vision gets a little skewed by the mundane things of this world and the activities we allow to take up so much of our time. Our children and grandchildren help us to see with an eternal perspective. Occasionally the veil becomes a little thin and we see what the scriptures and prophets are trying to tell us. Maybe one day I’ll get it. Elder Boyd K. Packer said it best: “When you come to the temple and receive your endowment, and kneel at the altar and be sealed, you can live an ordinary life and be an ordinary soul—struggling against temptation, failing and repenting, and failing again and repenting, but always determined to keep your covenants. … Then the day will come when you will receive the benediction: ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord”. These are the blessings for which we seek.
