I am very impressed with you tube. There are so many videos on so many subjects, it’s amazing. I have recently been enamored with backpacking stoves. Special thanks to my nephew Ryan and his trip with his scouts to Sky-blue Lake. Also to my brother-in-law David for his excitement to go to Sky-blue lake. Anita and I are planning a trip with David and Cherie for next summer and have been doing some investigating. Did you know that you can make a backpacking stove out of a couple of soda cans? Well you can. I have made 5 or 6 and they can actually cook a meal. These little dudes are about an inch and a half high and weigh almost nothing. The fuel is alcohol. Yep alcohol. These little stoves burn very clean, very cool for the environment, and very efficiently as well. No empty butane containers in the landfills from us. It only takes 5 or 6 minutes to make and they are very simple to construct and make an excellent storage item for emergency preparedness. Did you know you can make a camping cooking pot out a 24 ounce Heineken can? Well you can. Yes I am seeing my bishop Sunday. By the way the snails loved the beer. The Heineken "pot"cost about $2.70. In the picture you can see my little storage unit and cooking stuff. The storage container, very expensive, $2 at wal-mart, doubles as a 4-cup and a 1-cup measuring and mixing device. Everything fits in the (as we experts like to call them) Heini Pot. So for the low low price of about $5 you too can have this amazing cooking set. But wait it just gets better and better. The stove, windscreen, and fuel goes right in the "Heini pot". Folks for those of you that like to pick up cans on the road, you can find these treasures for free. I’d like to tell it’s all my idea, but I borrowed it from the internet. I will give updates on the trip as time goes by. I know many of you will be on pins and needles, but please be patient. The dinning room table has been my workshop. My wife is ecstatic about the mess. Actually she hasn’t said a thing. She definitely is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I have the same "stuff" all over my kitchen too. I guess I better find some wick or tape to cover up the "Hine" on the pot so the evidence is not screaming out. My beer attracted no snails or roaches yet.
